Reusable Water Bottle Decorating

884 million people lack access to safe water sources, approximately 1 in 8 people. (1)

Here in the United States we are lucky enough to have access to safe drinking water. So instead of buying it from the store, save your money and the consumption of plastic by using a reusable water bottle.

Join Students for Environmental Responsibility for a

REUSABLE WATER BOTTLE DECORATING PARTY

WHEN: Tuesday, October 11th at 4:30 pm.

WHERE: Outside on Seymour Court.

(In the case of inclement weather we will relocate to Rose Parlor)

WHAT: We will be describing the importance of using a reusable water bottle as opposed to store bought bottled water. Some water bottles and stickers will be provided. This is a first come, first served event. Please let the students who NEED a reusable water bottle take one first. If you have your own, bring it to decorate!

WHY THIS MATTERS

Thursday, September 15th at 4:30 in O’Connor Auditorium:

Come listen to Trinity students Taylor Smith and Jameka Hodnett- founders of Students for Environmental Responsibility, give a SHORT motivational lecture on what environmental sustainability means to them, event plans for this semester, and future goals for Trinity’s campus. A slideshow will be presented, and refreshments will be served! Hope you can make it!

Moving Planet

Saturday September 24th at 11:00 am: Meet us at the 11:00 am Trinity shuttle for an afternoon in the city. We will be taking part in a global event called Moving Planet (moving-planet.org).

What we will be doing: The first 15 students will receive metro cards, then we will ride the metro to the Red Line UDC stop, where we will take part in a 45 minute tour exploring the new sustainability measures adopted by University of the District of Columbia (UDC). This includes visits to the largest green roof project in the District, enhanced recycling facilities, and the net zero energy experimental visitor center. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes, pack snacks, and bring your reusable water bottles!

After the tour: We will be visiting DC VegFest, located in Foggy Bottom. This is a FREE outdoor festival celebrating the very best of everything vegetarian in and around the nation’s capital. Do not feel the need to be a vegetarian to enjoy this day! You are free to leave the festival whenever you would like.

We hope that you would like to join us!

You can certainly make it back in time for the 5:00 pm Cap and Gown Convocation.

Why We Chose To Found SFER

Greetings Trinity!

Last semester, my Co-Leader Jameka Hodnett and myself (Taylor Smith) had a vision. A vision to transform the Trinity community into a more environmentally friendly one. Our dream is to educate and show our fellow peers why the cause of environmental sustainability is so important to us.

We have lots of great ideas up our sleeves, such as: reusable water bottle decorating, transforming the recycling on campus into a more efficient system, hands on lessons for growing indoor plants, and lastly, plenty of fun events around the city! We will keep you posted over the next few days, once we have secured the dates for our future events.

Good luck with classes everyone! Work hard!
